The gas lens acts as a collet body but provides a much finer diffusion of the shielding gas for better weld integrity. The standard collet body is the secondary consumable that is the housing for the collet, the diffuser for the shielding gas and the item that the current is transferred through from the torch body to the tungsten electrode via the collet.
