Electrodes for use with nitrogen plasma gas generally have a tungsten insert from which the arc emits as this metal is idea but can only be used in an atmosphere without any oxygen. Water cooling the electrode is almost essential for production cutting, especially above 120amps. The down side is a more complex system with the cooling units and hoses to the torch which require more maintenance.
