Air cooled electrodes have the advantage of a much lower level of sophistication compared with water cooled systems. The cooling technology of air cooled plasma cutting systems has now advanced considerably compared to earlier systems. 120amps appears to be the current limit although some hand held systems go up to 150amps. This would not currently be very practical for a mechanised system.
